Firmware Engineer for Cloud Compute

Tremend is looking for a Firmware Engineer for Cloud Compute join our team of bright thinkers and doers. Your Impact:
  • Develop and integrate secure boot processes and other security features on Intel processors
  • Develop and integrate memory wear leveling techniques and other data plane-relevant firmware
  • Own and manage the BIOS/UEFI firmware stack for cloud compute machines, ensuring it meets the necessary standards and is optimized for deployment
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to ensure firmware is fully optimized for the hardware platform
  • Implement and manage device monitoring solutions using out-of-band controllers
  • Develop and maintain health monitoring systems to ensure the reliability and performance of cloud compute machines
  • Utilize and implement industry-standard protocols such as Redfish or IPMI for system management
  • Ensure compliance with these protocols across various firmware components
  • Develop diagnostic tools and processes to quickly identify and resolve firmware-related issues
  • Inject error codes to simulate failure modes and validate the reliability of the firmware under various conditions
  • In general apply quality control and assurance principles, as well as testing procedures in line with industry standards or above in order to ensure a high quality of code in development and production
  • Participate in and contribute to the development of engagement models for firmware deployment and maintenance on high reliability applications.
  • Ensure that all gating processes are robust and comprehensive, allowing for smooth and secure firmware updates.

Your Skills & Experience:
  • Extensive experience with low-level firmware, preferably BIOS/UEFI and BMC, especially with respect to the requirements and limitations of a cloud computing environment (high reliability/availability required)
  • Strong understanding of secure boot processes and other security features, preferably on Intel processors (including TPM operability)
  • Experience with device monitoring, health management systems, and out-of-band controllers
  • Ability to develop custom firmware solutions and deploy specific agents
  • Expertise in diagnostics, error injection, and failure mode analysis
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • High adaptability.

Set Yourself Apart With: 
  • Experience with traditional X86/X64 architectures
  • Proficiency in industry-standard protocols, such as Redfish, IPMI
  • Experience with Microsoft products, including Azure
  • Familiarity with the development of engagement models and process gating.
